Salt Lake County Planning Commission
and Township Planning Commissions

The County Planning Commission and the Township Planning Commissions are voluntary citizen commissions appointed by the Salt Lake County Council in accordance with county ordinance and state law. The Commission’s duties are to make recommendations and decisions on applications and issues relative to land use within the unincorporated areas of Salt Lake County.

The recommendations and/or decisions made are based on information received from: field visits, public comment, Community Council comments, public hearing presentations, application information, County Staff review and recommendation, ordinance compliance, and compatibility with the general plan. These Commissions make a recommendation to the County Council on general plan amendments, ordinance text amendments, changes, and subdivisions with 10 or more lots. They make the final decision on conditional use applications and subdivisions with less than 10 lots.

Information presented for consideration becomes a part of the public record.
